Rev’d Simon Leigh new Superintendent minister in the Bude and Holsworthy Circuit.
The Mayor of Holsworthy, Town Clerk and the Assistant to The Town Clerk had a meeting with Rev’d Simon Leigh. We welcomed him into Holsworthy.
Dear One and All,
My name is Simon Leigh and I am the new Superintendent minister in the Bude and Holsworthy Circuit.
In this photograph I am with my wife Rev’d Donna Leigh, who is Chaplain at Shebbear College, a Methodist school, where, incidentally, I went to school and boarded back in the 1970s.
The photo is taken after Donna’s ordination at Coventry Cathedral in 2017. We have three adult children and four grandchildren and a Westie called Mr Wesley.
I am delighted to be back in the Torridge area and in Holsworthy and surrounding locality in particular. Prior to returning to North Devon, Donna and I served in Plymouth for the last 12 years where I was the Superintendent minister and Donna was minister at Crownhill and Compton. I was also Deputy Chair of the Plymouth and Exeter Methodist District. Before that, Donna and I were based in South London, where Donna was a midwife and my ministry was based in Carshalton and Epsom for 13 years.
For me the Church is here to be a living sign of God’s love, in Christ, for the world. This means I am here to stand alongside this community in Holsworthy, sharing in the everyday experience of life and its rich pattern. Christianity for me is not pie in the sky, it is earthed and earthy and over the coming years I hope to enter into a practical, inclusive and hospitable ministry with you.
Rev’d Simon Leigh
