Here is something new! We have decided to create a blog to update everyone on what our Maintenance Operative gets up to each week.

The Holsworthy Town Council’s Maintenance Operative is George Wilcox. He is tasked with setting up the Wednesday Market each week, trimming hedges on Holsworthy Town Council land, maintaining the flowers in Badock Gardens and our Town Square, emptying some of the litter bins around Holsworthy as well as litter picking.

You may see George out in a Holsworthy Town Council vehicle but please do not distract him from his work.

Week 1 (06/09/21)

We are heading towards autumn which means there is some cutting back to do. As much as I like the Virginia Creeper, itโ€™s getting in the way now. What is left of it will turn red over the next few weeks.
I would like more of it somewhere as it a welcoming autumn colour.

I've also been tidying the greenhouse, I want to make it ready to plant some of the summer bedding plants and other plants overwinter. This would give us as many as possible to use next year.

I think geraniums will be my main plant as they tolerate periods of heat and drought very well. The petunias in the square did very well but are high maintenance and I think I will use them more sparingly as the heat did get to them and they struggled from that.

I will spend the winter planning. I'll keep you posted! ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒบ
