New Memorial Bench at Glebelands
Holsworthy Town Council is pleased to announce the installation of a new memorial bench at the top of Glebelands, replacing the previous bench which had fallen into disrepair.
This project involved considerable effort to establish ownership of the original bench and the land on which it stood. Holsworthy Town Council agreed to replace the bench to ensure the area remained a welcoming and reflective space for the community.
With the help of Academic Facilities Services, the new bench has now been installed and dedicated to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VJ Day, which was marked earlier this year.
The surrounding area has also been improved, including the installation of a new planter, the planting of bulbs and the removal of graffiti.
The Council would like to extend its sincere thanks to Councillor Cole and the volunteers, including Louis Devitt and Robin, for their hard work and commitment to enhancing this community space.
As all the work has now been completed, it was fitting that the bench was dedicated on 11th November, on the day of remembrance.

Holsworthy Mayor raised £7810.76 for Mayor’s Charities
On Saturday 27th September the Mayor, Councillor Jon Hutchings held a well attended fundraising event in aid of his chosen charities for 2025/26.
The event included 3 football matches, a raffle, bouncy castles, silent auction and much more.
The event raised £7810.76 which will be evenly split between the Mayor’s charities 2025/26,
Holsworthy Football Club & Holsworthy Museum. Both of which will receive £3905.38 each.
A big thank you to all the volunteers, players and supporters for assisting with the event and helping to raise a large sum of money for two great causes!
Thank you also, to the RBL Magpie club and Harpers for their support.
Finally, one special thank you to LLoyd & White Community Broking for match funding the event.
Grand opening of Deer Park Care Home
Holsworthy’s Mayor, Councillor Jon Hutchings was delighted to officially reopen Deer Park Care Home on Monday 13th October 2025.
Camelot Care are now open for business. Sue and her team have done an amazing job transforming the home into a bright and inviting home for residents.
The mayor had a great time meeting all the new staff and had a tour of the home, noting the delicious sausage rolls.
Thank you Paparazzi Parish for the photos.
Holsworthy mayor’s football match: chaos and community spirit
MEN in wellies, a streaker, the mayor in a union flag themed garb so bright it could be seen from the International Space Station and inclement weather.
While it might be a sentence used to pitch a potential sitcom about Holsworthy to big television bosses, in this instance it accurately surmises the chaos in mayoral chains and community fun that greeted the inaugural charity football event in aid of the mayor’s charities, which this year would see Holsworthy AFC and the town’s volunteer-run museum.
