Holsworthy Town Council votes to close the Market for 2025 and relaunch in Spring 2026

The Holsworthy Town Council voted to make positive changes to the Holsworthy Market in April 2025. After much consideration, the Council Market Committee met on 24th September to discuss and agree dates for a move towards a seasonal market. The Market Committee voted unanimously to maintain current fees until the Market close date of 29th October 2025 and work diligently over the Winter to prepare for an Easter re-launch in 2026.

Councillor Jon Hutchings, Mayor of Holsworthy , said:

“I have always worked hard to keep a Market here in Holsworthy. By closing the Market for the winter months, it gives the Council a chance to re-think our Wednesday offering. I personally will be pushing for a new location. Hopefully working with Torridge District Council to make use of the courtyard behind the Manor offices, with a relaunch for Easter next year”.

Councillor Ian Edwards, Chair of the Market Committee , said:

“ The Market needs to adapt and evolve in these changing times. Having a seasonal market will be a positive move in that evolution. The Winter closed season will give us the opportunity to review and reflect on the issues facing the Market and plan for its future”.
